Technical Deep Dive · Hello Address

Migrating Hello Address to Flutter for smoother cross-platform real estate UX

Hello Address needed a Flutter migration that made the app feel effortless and more stable. I worked on the migration with Firebase, Riverpod, token refresh handling, stored session data, source-based navigation, and smoother app flows across property, detail, onboarding, and dashboard journeys.

Migration Work

Rebuilding core app flows around authentication, session continuity, and smoother navigation

State

Riverpod structure

Used Riverpod for predictable state handling during migration and app flow coordination.

Session

Token refresh and storage

Handled stored user session data and token refresh requirements for a smoother returning-user experience.

Navigation

Source-based routes

Supported navigation decisions from property, detail, onboarding, and dashboard entry points.

Auth

Auth integration

Connected the app migration with the required authentication entry points and returning-user session behavior.

Challenges & Resolution

The migration had to improve the experience without making authentication feel heavy

Challenge

Users can enter real estate journeys from different sources.

Resolution

Handled source-based navigation so the app could route users correctly from property/detail/onboarding/dashboard flows.

Benefit

Reduced confusion and helped the migration feel more natural to users already moving through discovery flows.

Challenge

Authentication needed to be stable across platforms.

Resolution

Worked on Firebase, token refresh, stored session handling, and authentication-sensitive app flow decisions.

Benefit

Supported a cleaner login experience and better continuity for returning users.

This project is presented as a migration and app-flow reliability case study. The main engineering value was not only moving screens to Flutter, but making the migrated product easier to use, less crash-prone, and more consistent across Android and iOS.

Outcome

A seamless and robust cross-platform experience

By introducing Riverpod state management, solving session continuity with secure token refresh logic, and optimizing source-based routing, the migration successfully resolved critical performance issues and stabilized the mobile application for daily real estate operations.

Known result: Stabilized the Flutter migration for a flagship app with 1 lakh (100,000) active users.
